Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

School changes in parallel with the rapid evolutions at European and worldwide level and we are called to develop teaching competences by using new methods, keeping ourselves constantly informed concerning ICT. This requires a constant flow of knowledge and renewal of the teaching material we use. New ideas and material are needed and contacts with colleagues from other educational systems and countries facilitate this. The school of the 21st century promotes Education for Sustainable Development, i.e. nterdisciplinary approaches, a student-centred focus, innovative learning and teaching processes (group collaboration method, etc.), the holistic development of students, the concept of school as a learning organism where the main aim of the educational process is that students take an active role in their learning, explore the world around them (social issues, structures and conditions) and actively participate in what is happening in their communities, at local, European and worldwide levels, as responsible and democratic citizens. The aim of one of the courses is to enable participants to use ICT in class and apply the acquired skills to exploiting and creating ICT resources for teaching and learning. Participants will be learn how to work with free educational as well as easy-access tools, which will support and enhance language, mathematics, science, etc. teaching and learning, through interdisciplinary inquiry and the use and creation of digital teaching resources. On the other hand, other colleagues will attend a Study Visit Structured Programme which will provide opportunities for teachers from throughout Europe to have a choice of visiting schools with specific organisational concepts to promote high quality in teaching and learning, meeting and interacting with teachers, head teachers, experts and advisors, experience a powerful and unique school culture, observe innovative and collaborative learning, network, form eTwinning groups and discuss possible future international projects. By attending a seminar on Education for Sustainable Development the participants will be able to help to reorient education and learning so that everyone has the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that empower them to contribute to sustainable development and to strengthen education and learning in all agendas, programmes and activities that promote sustainable development.
