Más que palabras... aprendemos a expresarnos
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Jan 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The youth exchange "More than words... learning to express ourselves" will take place from the 1st to the 10th of october 2016 in Trasmulas/ Granada with 26 spanish and german young people with fewer opportunities. The spanish group comes from the school "Colegio Padre Manjón" in Granada, and the german group from the social services of a neighbourhood center, both situated in very disadvantaged districts of their cities. The project "More than words..." is focused on the communication as a key for the social integration of young people with learning and social difficulties. The participants will have the opportunity to experiment with different forms of expression: verbal, non-verbal, artistic and multimedial, always within an intercultural group. In this way they can learn to overcome their fears concerning the unknown and linguistic barriers, strengthen their communication skills, and at the same time gain in security and self-esteem. With the help of three main workshops - equine therapie, stagecraft and the creation of a blog on Trasmulas - the youngsters will get into contact with the people and the culture from the andalusian countryside, and open up a space for dialogue between the german and spanish participants and the rural population. The highlight will be the public presentation of the results of the youth exchange for the families of the spanish participants and the neighbours of Trasmulas. With this educational experience we want to offer new opportunities of personal development and socio-educational integration of young people in risk of social exclusion, improve the interaction and cooperation in class, promote respect and solidarity between youngsters from different countries and contexts, fight against racist and xenophobic tendencies, and motivate the young people with learning difficulties to go on studying and open up new perspectives.
