Management of Tourist Destinations Sofia-Nis

The proposed project consists of the so called soft measures with cross-border effect. The project aims to overcome the specific problems in Nis and Sofia and to improve the indicators for social and economical development. The strategy of the project in order to address these issues includes: Strengthening of institutional co-operation across the border; Encouraging and supporting the establishment or further development of sustainable co-operation network between local and regional tourism stakeholders; Increasing personnel and institutional capability for co-operation and participation in future development programmes; Supporting development particularly in the field of tourism development across the border. Achievements: The project envisioned and achieved the following results:- Analysis of the cross-border tourist services, requirements and EU best practices;- Development of integrated management software and free applications for mobile platforms;- Installation of information kiosks, 5 in Nis and 5 in Sofia;- Development of common web portal: www.nis-sofia.com;- Developed of new ideas for project concerning common cultural heritage, common products and services, exchange and transfer of know-how;- Increased public awareness regarding sustainable use of regional resources;- Organization of 4 cross-border business events, seminars, workshops;- Developed two common cross-border tourist products.The project was successfully completed in January 2014.
