Management and information centres in the protected territory of the Eastern Alpine arc - Julian Prealps.
Start date: Jun 30, 2002, End date: Jul 30, 2006 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project, closely connected with the similar one coded AAFVG111026, is part of a wider programme to safeguard and promote three protected areas with similar territories, in terms of orography, geology and naturalistic features: these are the Friulian Dolomites Park, Julian Prealps, and the Slovenian National Park of Triglav, which belong to the Alpine Network of Protected Areas and were included in the perimeter set up by the Convention for the Safeguard of the Alps. The project envisages the creation of the Visitors Centre and Guest House at Luseverna - exactly in Pian dei Ciclamini - consisting of a space for exhibitions and a multipurpose hall. The first provides information on the Parks and its activities; information panels present the area, list Partner Parks and stress the importance of cross-border cooperation with reference to the environment. The multi-purpose hall can also be used to host meetings and perform educational activities. Said structures contribute to providing more information on and better facilities in the Park, thus giving the visitor - particularly students - the possibility to get to know and appreciate the environment, by plunging into the beauty of its protected area, a few kilometres from the Slovenian border. Through cooperation with the partners, the project aims at ensuring a common approach to territorial management as well as contributing to revitalising the local tourist economy, thus pursuing the wider objective of establishing a Network of the Parks in the Eastern Alpine Arc - within the wider Alpine Network of Protected Areas, that brings together all the Parks of the Alpine Arc.
