Through this project we(8 Maltese youths together with 8 French youths) aim at having the possibility to meet in Coucy-le-Château-Auffrique to work together on our common interest being the preservation of cultural heritage, especially through a volunteering initiative. Thanks to the Youth Exchange we will have the possibility of working on the restoration of the 13th century castle and fort of Château de Coucy. As we will be coordinating the project only under the guidance of experts, and be directly involved in all its stages, the youth exchange will be giving us the opportunity to engage in challenging tasks that stimulate Youth Empowerment and together help contribute to the future of Europe through direct hands-on incentives.Not only so but after having hosted the same group of French youth in Malta to work in the restoration of a chapel in 2012, those of us which are Maltese will now be giving our time and efforts to restoring the heritage of France, and in so doing, engage in our role as European citizens and broaden our priorities beyond those of a national level. The French participants in our group will in turn share their heritage and expose the Maltese youth to lingual and cultural differences. We will also continue to share knowledge and skills, work on project management and planning, improve our team building skills and continue to promote solidarity across a multicultural dimension. The implemented activities and methods will be focused on non-formal and informal learning.Throughout these 14 days we will continue to promote social inclusion, volunteering, the European Year 2013 of Citizenship and to stimulate entrepreneurship and employability. We will out branch our efforts by not working alone and involving the communities we will directly be effecting such as that of Coucy and ensure to promote the importance of preserving cultural heritage and the active participation of all members of society on both a local and international level.
