Making healthy living trend
Start date: 01 Aug 2016,
End date: 31 Jan 2017
The background of the project is about the conflicting information that youth have in regards to living a healthy lifestyle and the concern within a group of friends about going to the gym and eating healthy. The goal of the project for the youth and for project coordinators both is to guide and to inform youth about living a healthy lifestyle in other ways than just going to the gym and dieting. The goal is to support the self-confidence of youth and to help fulfill oneself outside of the “fitness” world. Participating in the youth exchange are 32 (13 – 18 year old) youths and 11 project coordinators, 3 from Finland and two from other countries. The youth’s backgrounds are all quite different, however they are all interested in a common subject. The project work is focusing on the work and learning through the process. For example, the peace of nature is only understood once you are in nature and one only appreciates something once it has been experienced first-hand. In addition to the most important goal, the internalizing of a healthy lifestyle, we want to give youth and also ourselves the opportunity to have an international experience. In our small community where the projects are arranged we receive plenty of visibility and we believe this visibility within the community has a positive impact on the youth activities that are available. Being international is trendy and this type of projects implementation requires strong commitment and active participation. Throughout our organizations work habits change to be more open every time an international project is successful, because through experience we learn to try new things.
