Make the difference! - Volunteering, social inclusion and intercultural dialogue
Start date: Jan 1, 2013,

Artemisszió Foundation (Hungary) is NGO aiming at fostering intercultural dialogue with a special focus on the social integration of marginalized youth (socially disadvantaged, Roma, migrant youth). Together with ICYE Brazil, we aim to realize a bilateral EVS project titled “Make the difference! – volunteering for social inclusion and intercultural dialogue” focusing on intercultural dialogue and social inclusion by connecting European and Non-European volunteers and organisations to take action against social exclusion and to contribute to the development of local communities. The exchange will be mutual: a Hungarian volunteer will do a 5-month-voluntary service at ICYE Brazil in Porto Alegre, and a Brasilian volunteer will undertake a similar 5-month service at Artemisszio Foundation in Budapest, both with a strong focus on creative activities for marginalized youth. The volunteers will be involved in activities related to youth: empowering socially disadvantaged youngsters in Budapest and at the same time supporting activities realised in CESMAR community centre of a favela in Porto Alegre. The participants will also have the possibility to propose mini projects using the tools of non-formal learning, drama or other creative methods to enrich the activities of the organizations. Upon return from Hungary and Brazil, the volunteers will have the possibility to become involved in the youth projects of ICYE Brazil and Artemisszió, in order to help the integration of socially disadvantaged youth at their local community and to share experiences with the general public about having lived as an EVS volunteer in a country of the global North/South.
