Make it happen!
Start date: Apr 1, 2016, End date: Mar 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project “Make it happen!” is a 9-day long international youth exchange that will bring together 25 young people from five different countries: Portugal, Spain, Poland, Estonia and Israel. It will take place in Lisbon, Portugal between June, 20th and 28th, 2016. The working language of the exchange will be English. The exchange will also directly involve the local authorities and community.Over the past few decades the importance of volunteering has been increasingly acknowledged by European societies. In order todraw further public attention to this issue, 2011 was designated by the European Commission as the European Year of Volunteering.During that year a special title of European Volunteering Capital was created and the 2015 title has been awarded to our city, Lisbon. This Youth Exchange intends to sensitize youngsters from several countries to the importance of voluntary work as an expression of active citizenship and solidarity. Through non-formal methodology workshops and implementation of voluntary actions/interventions in Bairro Padre Cruz in Lisbon, we wish to promote the voluntary work spirit among the young participants and the knowledge of social problematic issues existing in that area of Lisbon. The impact of the exchange will be strengthen by the "before and after intervention" photo exhibition as well as an e-publicationwith the same contents.
