Magister Scholasticus
Start date: Dec 31, 2014, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The aim of the "Magister Scholasticus" project is to improve the quality and attractiveness of education in Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Henryka Sienkiewicza in Wrzesnia as well as improvement of school employees’ competences due to their completion of teacher training abroad. The objectives of the project are consistent with the European School Development Plan which implies the implementation and improvement of the bilingual education concept (LCIL - Language and Content Integrated Learning), raising the professional competence of school staff, including improving their language skills in English and establishing partnership with schools in international educational projects within Erasmus + program. The project will be implemented from the 1st of July 2014 to the 29th of June 2016 (duration: 24 months) and will involve 17 of the school staff: 13 teachers of general subjects, 2 teachers of English performing from the 1st of September 2013 bilingual education in the school, 1 teacher of English who will obtain qualifications in bilingual teaching but with no experience and 1 administration employee. The project participants have knowledge of the English language at the A1, A2 or B1 level (with the exception of the teachers of English participating in the project) and they have little experience in bilingual education or do not have it at all. They are creative and enterprising, but do not have faith in the possibility of learning English language. Within the framework of the project, in the period preceding the mobility, the participants will take part in a language and cultural preparatory course, methodological workshops and they will establish contacts in order to exchange their experiences with teachers from abroad through eTwinning. In the further stage of the project, 14 school employees will go for two- week language courses and 3 teachers will go to Great Britain and Ireland for language and methodology courses. After completion of the mobility, the project participants will receive certificates of Europass Language Passport and they will take part in a school language course at a higher level. As a result, the project will increase the key competences of the participants, their motivation for further improving and gaining new skills needed for bilingual teaching of their subjects. Due to the foreign mobility and contacts with teachers through eTwinning , the school will be able to succeed in establishing international cooperation and join a project under Erasmus+ KA2 action. In the long term, the school will raise the level of the bilingual education quality and it will expand its educational offer in this field. New and improved teaching skills of the teachers as well as their new experiences will result in the improvement of teaching effects. In the local community, the school will be perceived as a school which cares for its own development as well as the development of its staff and students, in line with the latest trends in education. The implementation of the project by Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. H. Sienkiewicza will be an example for other schools of good practice using opportunities available due to Polish membership in the European Union.
