European Commission's school policy is focussed on developing young people's competitive skills and knowledge needed by the labour market. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to improve students' competences in natural sciences, mathematics, foreign languages and intercultural communication, teachers need a new innovative vision of the lesson and the use of ICT in teaching. The project "Learning for Teaching" is part of a learning mobility KA1 funded by the EU programme Erasmus+. The goal of the project is to observe the organisation of the study process at the partner school and benefit from the experience gained in order to implement the gymnasium development plan, which highlights active learning and acquiring competitive education. It is intended to involve 7 teachers who represent the gymnasium methodological commissions of languages, natural sciences, mathematics and computer and social sciences.During the preparation process the teachers will gain lesson observation skills highlighting differentiated work with students and methods promoting active learning. The project will enable the teachers to develop their professional skills by observing and analysing lessons at the twinning school Eichenschule Scheessel in Germany. The teachers' intercultural communication skills will be increased and they will have a chance to improve their foreign language skills. After the project, the teachers will try the most useful methods in their classes and in cooperation with the study process coordinator of the gymnasium will offer other colleagues to observe and analyse their lessons and the efficiency of the new methods as well as adopt the positive experience. While participating in the work of the methodological associations of Tukums, Engure and Jaunpils municipality, the new experience will be promoted in other schools.
