Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Jul 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The 2nd Laboratory Center of Patras (2nd L.C. of Patras) , the 2nd EPAL of Patras, the 7th EPAL of Patras, the EPAL of Kato Achaia and the TEE Special Needs of Patras and the EPAL of Kalavryta, have formed an ambitious consortium, which has devised a common 3-year-long programme whose main objective is the improvement of teacher skills in new technologies. The present project is of 12-month duration (1/6/2016-31/5/2017), it is submitted by the 2nd L.C. of Patras, which is the coordinating entity, and it starts with the submission of this proposal, entitled “M-learning: Increasing the Attractiveness of Learning activities”, in the framework of Erasmus + 2016, in the key action “learning mobility of individuals” and sub-action “Trainees and staff mobility”. It will evolve into a flow of 16 teachers in Vienna Austria, lasting 9 days (1-09/4/2017).The main target group is highly qualified Vocational Senior High School teachers (with post-graduate studies, excellent knowledge of English, ICT certification), but without prior training in supporting m-learning applications for the creation learning courses. The submission of this proposal is based on the proven fact that one reason for the reduced interest of students and the high numbers of school dropouts is often the non-attractive pedagogical process followed in Greek schools. Today's students, born in the information and computer age, use ICT in almost all of their everyday activities. They expect ICT use in the learning process, as well. That is why we have to devise and implement teaching methods to meet the new needs. Therefore, the application of modern educational m-learning methods for the creation of interesting and attractive computer-based courses will benefits school education and improve learning outcomes. To achieve this goal, the adequate training of the staff is essential. This proposal seeks to cover this need/aim. The 16 teachers, once trained in m-learning methods, will be able to transform traditional and sterile knowledge transfer into attractive interactive lessons. Provision has been made so that the partner, responsible for the training, will be acquainted with specific subjects of the Greek educational curriculum. In this way the teachers will practice and apply the new methods on these specific subjects. Finally the most appropriate educational web 2.0 tools will be recommended in order to enhance and enrich these lessons. To achieve this aim we have chosen one of the most distinguished and specialised entities in Europe on this issue, Amadeus Association (ΑΑ) in Vienna, because it has proven experience in similar subjects and combines technological and educational adequacy. Objectives of the project are:-at the level of the participants, to activate the new requirements of the digital age, to increase their knowledge, skills and engagement in the educational technology and realize its pedagogical use, to improve/enhance their personal development and to expand their European culture.-at the level of partners/entities, to meet the increased need for staff training in specialized topics, and also other the teacher’s need at prefecture level, with seminars that will be implemented internally by the participants after the end of the project -to achieve further use of m-learning methods in the learning process and motivate educators of the prefecture to train in innovative teaching practices and methods and electronic educational technology in general. The cooperating entities are committed to apply m-learning methods into their school schedule after the completion of the project. A team consisting of one teacher from each institution will coordinate the cooperating schools, both on technical and pedagogical issues. The ultimate goal is to increase the attractiveness of education and reduce dropping out of school early.Participants will gain new knowledge and skills which will help them create online lessons, in order to make their teaching more attractive and more profitable for their students. In this way they will become more capable educators. These teachers will also act as multipliers. The schools of the consortium will acquire qualified personnel, they will create a more attractive educational environment and, thus, they will reduce dropping out of school early. They will build relations with prospective partners, they will increase their extroversion and they will participate in similar programs in the future. As pioneers in their district they will enhance their reputation. They will focus on the implementation of the ambitious 3-year-long program. It will become the base for their participation in the future programme KA2 which the consortium will submit in a similar area.
