lutte contre l'échec scolaire : eTwinning, un outil européen
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

As the students' results in English at the departemental test (level A1) were insufficient, the Sévigné Lafaye school, located in Vichy, France, wanted to join the European project eTwinning in order to reach several goals both for adults (parents, teachers) and pupils : - a better knowledge of Europe thanks to exchanges with classes from other countries, - preventing school failure thanks to innovative and motivating methods, - the improvement of the teaching of English, foreign language studied at school, - an answer and a solution to the issues linked to the high cultural, linguistic and social diversity of the pupils, - an enrichment of the teachers, both at a professional and personal levels, thus bringing a new dynamic for the school. To ensure optimal performance, it was necessary for some teachers to lead and motivate the educational team and to have a good understanding of this tool. This federative project has mobilised many people involved in the school : the parents, the pupils and the teachers have contributed to its success. The training course Erasmus + also corresponded to these requirements : - practising and improving English, - having a full Immersion in a European country, - getting in touch with some teachers coming from various countries and participating to the training course, - interdisciplinarity and use of new technologies and internet. The candidates have a B2 level in English. One of them, graduated in English language, is a specialized teacher who works with children having special needs. The second participant, who is about to acquire a degree in English language thanks to a correspondence course, largely contributes to teach English at school, teaching in several classes. Their training course has enabled them to lead a European project within the establishment to allow the pupils to put a lot into European culture, to have the feeling to belong to Europe, and thus to progress in a foreign language thanks to innovative methods and the use of new technologies.
