A few youngsters of local youth associations invented the idea "local heroes Delft". They made plans to produce a magazine with portraits of young Delft citizens, who work voluntarily in social and cultural areas, who show willingness to participate in the Delft community. The main target is to raise interest for participation in Delft. The message will be : "Make Delft better, for you and your fellow-citizen, then join in."For the short term, the initiators form a team of 10/15 youngsters to produce a splendid youth magazine. This magazine portaits different enthusiastic youngsters of 16-23 years old, we call them "our local heroes". The prospect is these youngsters inspire others to participate too. This magazine will be a nice gadget, we expect a huge impact (10.000 issues) but of course the effects will slow down after a few months. For the long term, the main basictool will be a website (www.localheroesdelft.nl) that functions like an community organizer. By means of this community, we continue to portait youngsters, publicize their activities and produce their stories. Meanwhile we encourage youngsters to react, to join, or tell their own stories. So people inpire each other and make Delft charming an attractive for us all.The idea is supported by the a few local organisations and the municipality of Delft.
