Living together
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Apr 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This eleven months project was implemented by Volunteers’ Centre Zagreb as receiving organization with Grenzenlos - interkultureller Austausch (Austrija) and Utilapu Nemzetkozi Epitotabor Halozat (Mađarska), as sending organizations, involving one Hungarian volunteer, Beáta Kolárszki, and two Austrian volunteers, Lisa Bauer and Eva Girstmair (Eva was a replacement volunteer for Lisa who due to employment finshed her service after 4 months). It took place in Zagreb, where volunteers, together with VCZ and its local partner organizations and institutions, took part in the organization, implementation and evaluation of activities for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. Through inclusion, respecting differences and diversity, intercultural understanding and community building, the project aimed to promote inclusive volunteering and make people aware of the importance of active citizenship in our society. This project gave to the volunteers an opportunity to learn and work in a diverse and challenging environment, get to know the challenges of Croatian reality of people with intellectual disabilities and aid in the enhancement of solidarity in our society, particularly among vulnerable groups. Desire of all sides participating in this project was to make change in communicating with and about people with intellectual disabilities.
