Limerick Youth Service - YELL Fever / YELL La Fievre
Start date: Jun 25, 2013,

YELL La Fievre (YELL Fever) is a project being led by young volunteers in Limerick who participated in a youth seminar called YELL (youth empowerment look @limerick) in April of this year (action 5.1). YELL La Fievre, is project based on a continuation of the spread of the youth empowerment message to other young people. The YELL volunteers with or french partners (Las Francas) endeavour to engage young participants (15-17years) from urban centres in Limerick and young people from rural backgrounds in France, in exploring the theme of active citizenship. The youth exchange itself will take place over 7 days in Limerick, with 30 participants in total. Activities will be based on exploring citizenship, how to be active citizens in shaping our lives, and exploring citizenship in the context of diversity (where we live -urban lifestyle in Ireland and rural lifestyle in France). Activities will look at the commonalities of citizenship for all young people despite geographical location. This exchange will be exciting in the context of the upcoming children's rights referendum in Ireland, and the outcome of this for young people, giving an opportune time to explore this conversation with our French partners. The methods applied will be interactive and fun including exploring citizenship through group-work, media, art and drama.
