Lifelong Language Learning in Vocational Training

Developing new methods for teaching vocational English as a second language in vocational training. Our target groups are students who are learning professions like roofmaker, carpenter, bricklayer, electrician, etc. and students who are learning proffesions with learning disabilities also immigrants who don’t speak English (in United Kingdom) – this kind of training can help them to find a job. The aim is to develop new methods for teaching and learning languages with the help of electrical learning environments (Moodle). The problems language teachers are facing are universal (lack of materials, limited use of methods, diversity of students) so we could all benefit from a common project. In addition, our secondary aim is to increase the social inclusion and increase chances for employement of students with disabilities. We want to present a little culture, traditions and history of each country participating in this project, the socio-economic environment and specific problems of the labour market in each country. Also in the UK context, development of English language materials (for reading and writing skills which can ultimately be accessed for E’learning) and which are contextualised to support learners in their job seeking activities. The materials developed will be piloted and learners supported with additional skills for Speaking and Listening in English.
