LFEE EUROPE Stage d’Immersion en Ecosse 2014-2015
Start date: Jul 19, 2014, End date: Jul 18, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

As a teacher of English language, my aim is to draw on my own enthusiasm for language and to engage pupils in learning about the world around them. I teach in a Sixth Form in France and in the national curriculum many topics are related to Scotland: its history and heritage, through literature and langauge. As a language teacher I do need also to update my English skills in order to be able to teach new approaches through ICT (information and communication technology) to my students. I know that LFEE l is an outstanding organisation where the staff and teachers are interested in teamwork and extracurricular activities. The course I would like to join is an Immersion Courses in Scotland. LFEE has been a Comenius course provider since 2002. Confluence Scotland has produced a successful team of experienced and fully qualified native-speaker teachers, committed to promoting English language and English-speaking culture in Europe. As it is said on their website teachers who "have attended LFEE courses know how to develop their discursive skills, update their methodology and exchange ideas for good practice in the classroom". That is also exactly what my aim is. The courses, aim to "boost" the teachers’ confidence in teaching English as a foreign language. Here are the main activities: Presentation – Scotland, History & Culture - an introduction Bus tour of East Lothian’s castles and coastline cultural visits [Edinburgh Castle, museums, galleries etc.] Aims for secondary school teachers’ course • To develop cultural awareness and understanding of contemporary Britain • To enhance methodological expertise in the teaching of English to teenagers • To enhance participants’ discursive skills, update their vocabulary and gain new ideas • and materials for use in the classroom • To use Internet and other ICT resources in the classroom • To use varied media and genres in the classroom • To debate current issues and to (re)discover contemporary British personalities
