The project that we entitled Let's go exchanging was developed stemming from a project that started two years ago which aims at sharing examples of good practice in the three kindergartens, i.e. Vodmat kindergarten from Slovenia, Aldalthing in Iceland and Sverige in Sweden. The main aim of the project is to train professionals to understand and apply concepts that encourage the view of children as morally competent beings and increase content to do with art and philosophy as well as the development of competences, such as cooperation, inclusion and creativity.All three kindergartens have a lot of experience in the afore-mentioned areas with each one focusing on a specific area. Vodmat kindergarten thus focuses on implementing artistic practices as part of the curriculum, as well as applying the comprehensive inductive model to encourage children's prosocial and moral development by using art. Adalthing kindergarten, furthermore, holds a wide variety of experience in the area of creativity as they enrich the practice by introducing elements of Reggio pedagogy; a further strong area of Adalthing kindergarten that could be used for examples of good practice can be found in their inclusion of members of vulnerable groups. The Swedish kindergarten, meanwhile, boasts a rich tradition and experience in the area of philosophy for children and active participation of children as individuals in the context in question.The main aim of the project is for professionals at the three kindergartens to become acquianted with different practices that are based in a similar basic view of the child, but differ in their specific manners of implementation and emphasis. Thus, professionals working at Vodmat kindergarten will be able to become familiar with a broader model of inclusion as well as the difference between creativity and art, as well as ways of working with children that encompasses philosophy for children. Similarly, professionals from the other two European kindergartens would be familiarized with the other two models (all three kindergartens are applying for Erasmus+ activity K1). In all three kindergartens, professionals gain the opportunity to get theoretical support and explanation from key persons who are developing the concepts in the participating kindergartens. i.e. Darja Štirn, phd. Petra Štirn and phd. Robi Kroflič from Slovenia, phd. Gudrun Alda Hardardottir and Kristin Dýrfjörð from Iceland and Suzanne Axelsson Suzzane Osten and Unga Klara, from Sweden. All three kindergartens have already produced articles and materials addressing individual concepts. As the training is going to provide an insight as well as a detailed familiarization and understanding of the model and a contemplation of how to best transfer it into practice within a different cultural environment, the participating professionals will be given a precise protocol they can use to observe the practice as key members, support, supervision and the possibility of further exchange and insight into practice. In the long term, we would like to establish a more permanent collaboration between kindergartens through a more long-lasting project. The results we expect are an established link between theoretical findings and actual pedagogical practice in kindergartens as well as obtaining knowledge and experience. The long-term effect can be seen in gaining international acquaintances and contacts that can and will be used in our work or possibly even finding new employment opportunities through new projects (we are planning a joint project under the K2 activity of the Erasmus+ programme).
