Lets do it: YOUTH CENTRES AND URBAN YOUTH STREET CULTURE
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Youth Exchange “Lets do it: Youth Centres and urban youth street culture” (Berlin, Germany, from 28th August till 9th September 2014) can be considered as the direct follow up of a Youth in Action activity realised in October 2013 (Make it possible: “YOUTH CENTRES AND URBAN YOUTH STREET CULTURE”) and the further development of the previous projects realised by "Roter Baum" Berlin UG Youth Centre in the field of youth culture and participation. We want to go one step forward to show, that it is possible to give youth the opportunity to organize their own events and projects in field of urban youth street culture and practice this in an intercultural environment. The main objective is to empower youth centers, their staff and here especially peers, in the implementation of their project ideas or their youth and sub culture events. The peers will learn methods how to support other young people to articulate their ideas and formulate, and to implement public event in public space together. We will also try to give an overview of various youth cultures and youth activities to obtain, which are popular in the countries of the partners involved. In the last four years, we have implemented the project "diveRcity"; which allowed young people to settle their own events in public spaces. We will use our experience and invite youth, who took advantage of this offer, to share their expieriences. We believe that this type of project work and participation achieved major successes in youth nonformal learning, especially in social skills and believe that increases the willingness to take responsibility, if adults have the necessary freedom for this. For public event we will use the already existing “diveRcity”-festival (http://youtu.be/VOeWeQYce4o), which will be held from 5th to 6th September. The participants will add their components in music, street art, street artistic, street dance to the event in arrangement with German youth, which organize the event. The youth of our partnership coming from EU and SEE NGO’s and/or Youth Centres could be improved thanks to non formal education, acquiring new methodologies and developing quality activities tools. This improvement will focus on the promotion of intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity and on the development of new opportunities of social, cultural and economical inclusion of young people using “urban street culture” as concrete tool to work with. Urban street culture, in fact, is one of the most popular way for young people to express themselves, their wishes, their ideas and more and more represents the tool they use to interact with their societies, their contexts, their peer. All the activities will be lead by an international team of facilitators with ex-periences in non formal education activities, youth policies, intercultural learning, urban street culture and in management of international youth projects. During the Youth Exchange will be realized ice breaker activities, team building exercises, an intercultural evening, 2 session “Open Space” to share local contexts, working sessions to analyse and address the topics of the project (Youth centres, social and cultural development of young people, youth work and urban street culture), different meetings to share with the hosting local community (Youth Centres, school students, young people) the results and outcomes of the project activities, elaboration of future projects, evaluations. Core part of the activities will be represented by the organisation of several workshops that will give introductions to “project management”, sharing informations about “street art”, “street artistics”, “street/contemporary dance”, “event technology”, “public relations” and “fund raising” and will provide possibility for all participants to share experiences, explore new competences, create awareness actions and concrete products to empower social and cultural de-velopment and increase their inclusion opportunities. We are asking for Partners from EU and Non-EU countries which are interested in this topic. Each partner is requested to send 8 participants and one supporting staff. We will accept maximum 6 Partners. Group can include each kind of participants (music groups, single musicians, street artists, X-sports people, dancers...). For better planning, we ask you kindly to announce it by confirming the Participation in project.
