Let's start: verso la dimensione europea ed internazionale
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

IIS (Istituto di Istruzione Superiore) of Codogno is composed of three different schools: Ambrosoli, Calamandrei and Merli. It offers a wide variety of technical, vocational and “IeFP” courses. The school counts up to about 750 students, 120 teachers and 30 cooperators (administrative and technical staff and caretakers). This is the first European project the school presents and its title is “Let’s start: reaching an international and European dimension”. The main aims of this project are: starting the school internationalization, motivating school staff, developing the teachers’ linguistic and methodological competences, realizing international experiences and activities such as eTwinning, cooperation projects and so on. The project, issued by a working group coordinated by the school manager, has previously been featured and discussed during the teachers’ meeting and has been widely welcomed by the entire staff. The project offers to some teachers and the school manager the opportunity to attend some training courses abroad and is supported also by technical and administrative staff. All the teachers interested in the project have been invited to formalize their candidacy as well as their application covering the courses they would like to attend. The selection has been made by taking into account the availability of the teachers, their linguistic competence, the reasons and detailed information submitted to the committee, the willingness to share the fruits of their experience with their colleagues. The mobility has been planned with accurate timing. There are 12 people involved in mobility: 11 teachers who teach different school subjects and the school manager. All the people involved have a wide experience in planning and managing activities and in teaching pupils with special needs; they all reckon they need to improve their English language fluency and their methodological competences in order to offer to their students a wide range of learning experiences. The courses selected are English language development courses, CLIL methodology courses and courses about special educational needs. During this experience, the teachers will improve their linguistic and methodological skills and meet other teachers from other EU countries. This experience will reinforce the teachers’ motivation and give the school the possibility to create an international network. The positive impact on the institute will consist in the creation of an European dimension, particularly thanks to the possible realization of collaborative projects with schools other countries. The project may be also an incentive for students to have mobility experience; it will be very useful for them for university or for their professional career.
