Let's move toghether
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Feb 28, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The exchange project “Let’s move together” is part of Erasmus+ activities of European Union. The main core of the project is immigration and its critical situations. As already known, immigration is always linked to social stereotypes and prejudice which foster intolerance, racism and indifference within groups. The project aims at giving a new point of view on the immigration, by improving knowledge and awareness about the topic and by improving intercultural competences of individuals. It involves four association which represent four European countries: Yelemanì Onlus (Italy, host partner); Sprijin si Dez Voltare (Romania, partner); Asociacìon Yuvenil Intercambia (Spain, partner); Asociacia Nemunas FUN (Lithuania, partner). The amount of participants was 5 from each association involved in the exchange (4 young people aged from 17 to 30 + 1 group leader). The project occurred from 8th January to 16th January 2015 in Palermo, Sicily. The city is multicultural in several aspects, not only for the amount of people from other countries living there, but also for its typical socio-cultural traditions. It is worth noting that Sicily is the centre of the Mediterranean Sea: this the reason why is the first destination of people from North Africa and Western Asia. In the light of these considerations, the main goals of the project are: 1. Making participants aware of the fundamental right to safety and limitless mobility of everyone; a specific focus is on the analysis of this right in the domain of judicial system. 2. Examining in depth technical and scientific instruments (especially the European ones) for the monitoring and the analysis of immigration. 3. Through identification processes, stimulating participants to feel the same way as immigrants basing this empathic empathy on previous experiences in order to sensitize them to the immigrants conditions. 4. Sharing piece of information about active citizenship and mobility in Europe in order to make participants assume a new perspective on immigration: from considering immigration as a problem to look at it as an opportunity. Consistent with the previous objectives are the following activities, which have occurred during the exchange: 1. Ice-breakers plays, role playing games and division into groups in order to make participants know each other. 2. Workshop 1 + round table: Presentation by each group of preliminary research on immigration/emigration on its own country. Discussion and brainstorming on the topic. 3. Guided tour paying particular attention to the multicultural aspects of Palermo. 4. Meeting with social workers and discussion on integration and immigration policies; listening to specific witness. 5. Meeting with operators from European mobility. 6. Meeting with specialists on video editing and on acting in order to make a video telling the experience of the exchange. 7. Editing a document with proposals for the modification of some immigration policies and for the empowerment of the legal protection of human rights. 8. Intercultural suppers as an occasion for sharing experiences from own country. 9. Reflection groups: day by day the groups evaluated the activities. Participants showed that they improved their intercultural skills, as indicated in the feedback collected in the final phase of the project. In particular, they showed: - awareness of the magnitude of the immigration in Europe; - personal awareness of the skills they can share within the European citizenship and of the instruments active citizenship can use; - development of an European and personal identity through the comparison with participants from other European countries; - renewed awareness of the immigration and of the conditions of immigrants. All the above mentioned skills are attested by Youthpass Certificate and will be used in their educational and working life by the participants.
