Let's improve our English (lessons)!
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

As a primary school that especially focuses on teaching English, we are interested in developping and improving our lessons. Since our English teachers aren't native speakers, it is necessary to improve their ability and confidence in their use of English. It is our aim to ensure monolingual English classes. Nowadays teachers should continually advance their teaching methods in order to respond to individual learners' needs. The project's aim is to better qualify our English teachers for their job and thereby enhance English lessons. Three teachers of English will participate in a course for teachers of English at primary level in England. The course aims to provide non-native teachers of English with new ideas, practical classroom skills and materials for teaching English to young learners. The participants have the opportunity to improve their own language skills and to acquire language for the primary classroom. They also get an insight into primary education in England and life in Britain which enables them to draw comparisons between life in Germany and Britain and convey to their pupils an up-to-date picture of everyday life in Britain. We expect that the project will have a positive impact on the participants and that they'll be motivated to integrate their acquired knowledge into their teaching. The participants should also involve their colleagues and tell them about their experiences and teaching skills in order to let everybody benefit from the project.
