Les Services aux Personnes entre Ancenis et Lucera
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project entitled "The services to People between Ancenis and Lucera" was the second project of European training course led by Jean-Baptiste Eriau high school. The aim was to propose 10 of our students in a vocational training preparing a Baccalaureate diploma in "Services to people and territories" an ERASMUS+ internship of 3 weeks within a nursery school and within a rest home in Lucera in Italy. At the time of the stay which took place from Friday, September 25th till Friday, October 16th, 2015, the pupils were at the beginning of final year of high school and had already had a work experience acquired during 10 weeks of training course. The 9 girls and the boy were all at least 17 years old. They had a weak knowledge of the European Union and the majority had rarely already left France. They needed to be reassured, to take the drama of the fear of the unknown out, a cultural opening, to develop their feeling of European citizenship, to develop their mobility and their capacity of analysis and to value what they had acquired. In correspondence with the objectives of the training, the context of our territory and the profile of the students, we had defined objectives concerning this project. For our young, the objectives were to operate professional techniques, professional social skills and know-how. At the personal level, the objectives were to develop their autonomy in a secure frame, their cultural opening, their desire to open on the world and to be more mobile and valued. For the school and the teaching team, the objectives were to bring an opening to the students, to value the European opening of the school, to share practices with colleagues of another country and to favour the teamwork. The activities of preparation, the 3 weeks of training course and the moments of evaluation and information allowed the young people to discover the culture of Italy and to live a developing and enriching work experience. We had decided to choose Italy as the destination because the places of training course we had found were corresponding to the level of professional skills of our pupils and because culturally, Italy and France are close. We had also chosen Italy for our partnership with Rosmini high school. We think that this school was a real strength for our pupils who besides having the opportunity to do a professional training course in Italy were also able to meet young Italian. Our project led in team with the support of solid Italian partners improved the capacity of the pupils to be mobile, allowed them to discover another cultural and professional environment and made them become aware of their European citizenship. It restored their self confidence, allowed them to share their experiences and to be more able to work in teams. The local context of Jean-Batpiste Eriau high school, the non-reciprocity of the project with the Italian high school whereas it was planned and the administrative work linked to the Erasmus+ program brought us to a pause in the European projects. A reflection is going to be led on the possibility of relaunching this project in 2017.
