Since we are confronted with the challenge of a steadily increasing number of pupils at our school who are refugees or feature a different kind of “non-German speaking” background teaching in English is becoming more and more indispensable for our teachers.Therefore a growing proportion of conversations at our school has to be carried out in English requiring appropriate language skills.Taking part in the program of “confluence Scotland” our teachers are supposed to improve their individual English-speaking skills as well as acquiring new methods of teaching.We want two of our teachers to take part in “confluence Scotland”, who are currently teaching in different grades. Our teachers will take part in an intensive 7 days language course and a methodical skill training which are provided by “confluence Scotland”. Lessons will be held in English exclusively and participants will therefore be encouraged to speak as much English as possible at social or cultural occasions.Participants are supposed to benefit from a growing cultural and social awareness of Great Britain and the English language itself.In addition to that we hope our participants will increase their skills significantly as far as speaking skills, vocabulary, methods and material (Internet, Novels, Songs) and their own educational reflection are concerned. We strongly hope this measures will have a positive long term effect on the quality of our teaching. We will also guarantee that all acquired skills will be forwarded via “in house trainings” hosted by our participants.
