Lehren und Lernen von Sprachen optimieren - LuLevSo
Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Jun 30, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Improving the Teaching and Learning of Foreign Languages - LuLevSo" is in total 68 learning mobilities in structured further education courses for part-time and full-time employees of the eight Adult Education Centres in the Region East-Westphalia Lippe and for 3 persons of the Association of the Adult Education Centres in North Rhine Westphalia. This is mainly in the field of foreign languages and is carried out under the direction of the VHS Lippe-West.Most courses last two weeks and take place in England, France and Spain. They aim to perfect and expand the knowledge of the language, methodology, didactics, intercultural competence and quality management. This involves learning about innovative new teaching and learning methods, experiencing new ways of teaching mediation, making new contacts on both private and professional levels, and expanding the existing network with partners in Europe. The Adult Education School VHS Lippe-West and its neighbouring Adult Education Centres which are located mostly in rural parts of East-Westphalia want to motivate more people in this region to learn and expand their knowledge of foreign languages in the context of lifelong learning. Therefore the competence of the language teachers will be improved. Teachers will be encouraged to make use of, or work with, new media so that lessons need not always take place in the classroom. In addition, full-time staff of Adult Education Schools who do planning, organisation and management, should be encouraged in foreign language competence - if possible directly related to their work. The quality of dealing with international visitors to the intensive German integration and refugee courses should be increased with lasting effects by the improved foreign language skills, and the intercultural knowledge of the VHS staff. The potential longer term benefits of this project will be better motivation for teachers and staff, to promote professionalisation, give suggestions for future EU projects and open the view for international networking in education. The project aims to contribute to the internationalisation and professionalisation of education in the Adult Education Centres of the Region East-Westphalia and of the Association of the Education Centres in NRW.
