Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Mar 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EVS hosting organisations Loackerhuus and Sunnahof in Vorarlberg/Austria would like to host five volunteers Russia, France, Cyprus and Greece. Maria from Russia will work in the project Loackerhuus and the other four will work in the project Sunnahof for 12 months (05/09/2016 - 04/09/2017). In both organisations they will help people with light intellectual disabilities and behaviour problems. All five volunteers are very interested in their projects and they are very happy that they were selected and look forward to getting the chance for an interesting EVS experience in Austria.Maria will participate in the project Loackerhuus! She will finish her study in this summer and has at the moment only the plan to do EVS. She would like to get a new experience in social live and she would like to work ones with handicapped people. She looks forward that the project gets approved so that she can explore Austria.Arnaud also studies and will finish this summer. After that he doesn’t know what he wants to do so he would like to use EVS as a possibility for orientation to find out what he wants to do afterwards. He also has no experience with handicapped people but I would like to bring in his own ideas and skills.Loukia has at the moment a job where she works as an office Manager. She would like to take some time off and do some social work. Her job will end in the summer and then she hopes that the EVS project gets approved that she can come to Austria.Nikos has at the moment two jobs. One will end in the summer and so he would like to use EVS as a new chance to make new experiences. As we know the economic situation in Greece is not that good so he sees his EVS also as a chance to rise up his chances on the job market. He is really interested in this project and he looks forward to do EVS on the Sunnahof.Sandrine had a job till February now she is doing an internship because she would like to orientate her new and find out what she wants to do. She is really motivated to come to Austria and to find out in what she is interested and if she would like to continue after her EVS in the social field. Through her family she got some experiences in gardening so she would like to bring in her skills into the EVS project.Arnaud, Loukia, Nikos and Sandrine will work in the different areas in Sunnahof: farming, carpentry, gardening or gastronomy. They have one work area each but will also have the chance to get to know the other areas and working fields. The volunteers will also be able to make their own projects, contribute their own talents. It is also possible for the volunteers to attend trainings and workshops regarding disability, where they can refine their skills in social work. Through the EVS project with Loackerhuus and Sunnahof the volunteers will learn a lot about work with people with light intellectual disabilities and behaviour problems. They will learn how to work along with people with disabilities and how to increase their skills and promote their independence. Furthermore the volunteers can gain access to the work as a farmer, carpenter, and gardener or in gastronomy, to work in an art studio or some other creative tasks if they are interested. The hosting organisations also benefit through the stay of the volunteers. The volunteers contribute their own ideas, culture and give the organisations the chance to explore new ways of working. So there should be a win-win-situation for the organisations and the volunteers. The long term benefit should/could be to reach as many people as possible but especially young people, to waken their interest for going abroad, making new experience and to use the chance with the EU programme ERASMUS+, especially "Youth in Action".
