Learning from Violence
Start date: Dec 5, 2009,

The project is a youth commitment for social inclusion of youth in risk of social inclusion in Lorca through non-formal educational activities, as well as leisure activities, which may boost comradeship, knowing one another and educational values. Its aim is to create a place to meet, talk and for alternative leisure forthose young people who are not integrated in the social life of the town by offering them attractive alternatives of educational and leisure activities. The youth communities that find themselves in this situation are mostly foreigners and made by immigrants that represent a representative percentage in Lorca nowadays. For this reason the project has a strong orientation towards intercultural education with the explicit objective of preventing the formation of the cultural ghettoes and of encouraging the interpersonal and inter-groupal interaction between youth from different cultural backgrounds. Our main motivation is to fight integration difficulties of recently arrived migrants in Lorca offering them a programme of leisure activities which allow them to know other young people in town and so break their isolation. Another motivation is to offer a wide, varied programme of activities which complements that of the Town Council.
