A main problem identified in several EU countries is the fact that employment market is not easily accessible to everybody. Some of the disadvantaged groups to whom the employment market is not accessible are early school leavers, low skilled persons, ethnic minorities, women etc. Due to the above, several other problems occur such as social exclusion & poverty. The main aim of this project is to develop skills & competences in order to ease the access of the disadvantaged groups to the labor marker.EQLEARN is based on one of the deliverables of the project Channels of Access (COA) namely: Curriculum that will assist unemployed women to enter the labour market. The main objective of the COA project was to ease the access of inactive/unemployed women in the employment market. Through COA, 3 different modules were developed to enable the development of 3 European Reference Framework(ERF) competences namely:1.Social & Civic competences (the module named Effective Communication Techniques)2.Communication in foreign languages (English Language was used as the pilot language)3.Digital competenceEvaluation of the employment that followed the training identified the need for development in other competences as well with special emphasis on: 1.Learning to Learn 2.Sense of Initiative & entrepreneurship. According to the Progress Report Working Group B 'Key Competences', Implementation of 'Education & Training 2010' (November 2004)' in order to ensure that education & training can contribute to the Lisbon process it is crucial to concentrate efforts on lifelong learning opportunities of the less advantaged groups.The objective of EQLEARN is to use the results of the COA project & develop a TOTAL SOLUTION for the development of competences of disadvantaged groups so that they can integrate into the society & labour market. The new/improved product will integrate all 8 competences suggested by the ERF (the existing has only used 3 of them). The improved product will take into consideration the characteristics of different disadvantaged groups but at the same time be applicable to any disadvantaged group.This will be achieved through the development of a pool of methodological tools that will enable the VETs to customise the curricula based on some parameters (eg which disadvantaged group, what personal characteristics).It should be noted that one of the strengths of the COA product is the set of methodological tools developed for the learning of unemployed women (identified as best practice by the DP & included in the best practices directory of Equal Cyprus). The improved product will be tested in Cyprus & Greece using different disadvantaged groups & then transfered to Slovakia. After the pilot, the product will be uploaded on an e-learning platform. As a result, a TOTAL LEARNING SOLUTION for ALL disadvantaged people will be available that can be customised through use of different parameters & can be delivered through classroom & e-channels.
