Learning for a Sustainable Future II
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Feb 29, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This is the second part of the project Learning for a Sustainable Future and has therefore the same priorities: it is introducing formal and non-formal education forms and respective methods to international volunteers and giving them the chance to practice it at their receiving organisations in Estonia. Formal and non-formal education is more and more linked to one-another, which increases the variety of teaching topics and makes different theoretical subjects intertwining with social, psychological and individual perspectives. Using non-formal education methods helps to target topics such as human rights, sustainable lifestyle, cultural diversity and environment to fight against racism, xenophobia, drug abuse, gender differentiation, pollution etc. So on one hand this project gives volunteers the chance to learn to use different teaching methods; on the other hand through these activities very important topics will be discussed and dealt with. Of course the target group in kindergarten, public schools, hobby schools and youth centres and at youth association ESTYES is different; therefore the topics and methods are adapted accordingly. Especially because at present time youth unemployment is a serious issue in most European countries, this project aims to promote EVS among unemployed youth during the project in Estonia, as well after volunteers’ return in their home country. EVS is a possibility to gain valuable experiences and learn new skills which can be beneficial for finding a job later. Proposed project is a good possibility for the youth to be active citizens and give their hand in the field that touches them the most, to share already existing skills, get new experiences and find their new talents. Through this they will bring a change into their own life as well to the children, youth and adults they will work with. There are 6 volunteers involved in this project: from France, Slovakia, Moldova, Slovenia, Spain and Ukraine and they carry out their voluntary service at Experimental Movement Centre, Haabersti Leisure Centre, Lasnamäe Gymnasium, Kindergarten Punamütsike, Kohila Municipality and Youth Association ESTYES.
