LEARNING by WORKING
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school, named UMSZKI, operates with 1100 students and 120 teachers in Budapest. The English bilingual classes study electronics or informatics, and the German bilingual classes are trained to become mechanics. The Hungarian classes provide knowledge in the field of electronics. Due to our educational programme our students had had the appropriate professional, linguistic and intercultural knowledge for performing a successful professional practice. To improve the competencies of the participants our project provided a preparation before the practice. According to our Project Management Plan the project was accomplished by our experienced and committed teaching staff and project team. We worked with three partner institutions (a Finnish in Kotka, a Spanish in Inca, Mallorca and a German one in Dortmund) which ones provided us with workplaces suitable for implementing our professional programme. The professional practice was done on the basis of the agreements on the conditions and frameworks of our cooperation and the professional work plan drawn up by our school. In the years 2014 and 2015, we sent 8 students to Finland and 8 to Majorca for a 4-week practice and a total of 12 students for a 3-week practice to Germany. Two of our partners ( EKAMI and IES PAU CASESNOVES we have been cooperating with for a long time, but the German institute has been a new partner for this project. This new partnership has been working in a great contentment. With the fulfillment of this project, our students managed to get closer to the world of work, they had an opportunity to use their language skills and they were able to gain new competences and knowledge. The evaluation of the participants' achivement and the implementation of the project was carried out together with the partner institutions. Also we shared some ideas about the appropriate channels for the dissmination of the project results. As we expected , or beyond of our expectations, there are some short and long term effects of the professional practices and the project: - development of the professional, language and personal ( social ) competences of the participants - realization of the necessity of language knowledge - strengthening of the interest in the choosen profession - expansion of Dual Vocational Education - appreciation of Erasmus+ Programmes - increase of our students' chances on the labour market and in higher education - development of our professional and educational programme - in the cooperation of the teaching staff - in the rise of the reputation and assessment of our school - strengthening and expansion of international relations - increase of our students' tolerance - strengthening of the single European approach among our teachers and students
