LEARNING AND WORKING IN EUROPE
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The LWIE Project responds to an undeniable challenge to our society: the need to strengthen the European dimension of vocational training through mobility between countries. In fact, one of the constant requests for vocational training centers is carrying on business practices in Europe. Furthermore, we cannot ignore that the unemployment rate of Spanish youth is among the highest in Europe, exceeding 50% and being especially hurtful to young people seeking their first job. Taking these premises into account, the LWIE project aims that students not only contact with the reality of work, but also have the chance to meet the European environment to which we belong. LWIE is specially designed to build the necessary bridges to zoom the student or recent graduate who is finishing his/her studies in the labour market with a European projection, facilitating mobility among European countries and, thus, expanding the possibilities of employment for young people seeking their first job. Moreover, educational centers and the ESFMB need to establish long-term knowledge networks to enable them to get in touch with businesses, schools, social partners and local authorities European. This will promote innovation, sharing best practices and learning about European policies, improving the quality of their education and combating youth unemployment. The consortium is made up of four high schools of the Valencian Region and ESFMB to act as coordinator. The project is designed for 30 students / recent graduates of the intermediate level of the professional families of Informatics and Communications (Technician in microcomputer systems and networks), Hospitality and Tourism (Technician in Catering Services) and Installation and Maintenance (Technical in Electromechanical Maintenance) who will make a one-month stay (from January 10 to June 10, 2016) in Italy, Portugal and Malta; from May 10 to June 10, 2015. Through this project, students can integrate into their training practices undertaken as part of the module "Training at Work" (FCT). The main objective of LWIE is that participants develop through training practices in European companies, skills and abilities to complete, in a practical way, the skills already acquired in VET and efficiently incorporate the common European labour market. They need to develop not only specific and technical skills on the specialty they have studied but also other key skills such as cultural, linguistic, entrepreneurship and personal initiative, ability to work in teams and knowledge of other working environments to facilitate insertion in the European labor market, either self-employed or employed by others. The main activities carried out by the project partners are: -Preparation of mobility. Including: Selection of participants, initial assessment of their skills, previous training of participants, logistical and contractual aspects, coordination ... -Execution of the stay. Starting the program in companies. Mobility also includes cultural activities. -Evaluation of the participants. The skills acquired during the project will be certified with ECVET and will be defined from an initial evaluation. The activities within the company will aim to achieve these skills and will be customized for each participant. -Monitoring. Monitoring of the evolution of the participants by the means established in the project will be performed. -Evaluation of the project. -Dissemination. Dissemination activities are planned throughout the whole project. A final dissemination conference of the results will be performed. Besides the impact on the participants, the project will affect the partners promoting European cooperation and rapprochement between business and schools. Dissemination activities and mobility itself will create an impact at local, regional and national levels. Although not involved in the project, other organizations at local, regional and national levels will benefit from the project results: -Improvent of youth employment rates -Improvment of young people training -Ability to develop projects of European cooperation -Possibility of contacts with other European institutions to share good practices -Improvement of the quality of education provided in schools -Getting to know how new certification models are used. ECVET -Possibility of incorporating companies in a netwrok to receive foreign students -Facilitating the incorporation of women into the labour market. -Promoting social inclusion. The project is directly linked to the 2020 strategic priorities and agrees to help the EU and its Member States to generate higher employment, productivity and social cohesion.
