LearnCom - Learning Community

This project is concerned with teaching computer and language skills using modern communication and information technology. It will prepare unemployed and less qualified people to participate in a rural tourism programme, thus taking control of their situation and enabling them to re-enter the world of work. Statistics show that the decline in small local economies, especially farming and fishing, has left local populations without the skills necessary to re-animate their communities. Particular attention will be paid to enhancing the learning skills necessary to take control of their situation and to provide them with a renewed interest in the life of their community. The project will provide communication tools to enable the inhabitants of small rural communities in Europe to increase their understanding of the diversity of their situation and provide them with communication skills practice, the opportunity to acquire language skills and enhance their knowledge of the use of NIT. The programme will also increase the competence of trainers involved in the partnership in making and adjusting course material to be used in future projects. The main products of the project will be a web site and course material with a common teaching methodology, within a wide consortia, that can be used in many different ways. Certification of participation in the training modules will add to the benefit for participants.
