Learn about Europe
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Owing to the hosting organisation’s experience in working with young people, the EVS volunteer was able to gain an insight into the transnational work with young people and practitioners, as well as the development in the field of youth and social policy across Europe. The YES Forum secretariat created a supportive environment in which the EVS volunteer contributed to the development and implementation of international projects aimed at making young people’s voice heard throughout Europe. The volunteer was welcomed as an integral part of the international team of the Secretariat, and was actively involved at every stage of work: project design, application for funding, dissemination actions, team meetings and ongoing administrative tasks. In addition, the volunteer represented the YES Forum in high-level events organised by the Council of Europe and SALTO Resource Centre in Strasbourg and Brussels, respectively. At these occasions the volunteer interacted with youth practitioners from all over Europe, and promoted YES Forum’s mission to foster a meaningful dialogue on the needs and interests of young people with fewer opportunities. At the same time, involving the volunteer in the day-to-day organisational work of the YES Forum offered him the opportunity to develop digital skills by working with Content Management Software (typo3) and publishing software (Adobe Publisher). The intercultural environment both in the secretariat in Stuttgart and that given by the European members of the YES Forum enabled the young volunteer to expand his intercultural and communication skills.
