The participants are 3 teachers training in language and methodology to embed the target language into school. They have all volunteered to take part in this course during their spare time, and are enthusiastic and motivated to gain a rich experience learning the methodology of teaching and developing their modern languages. The participants have researched the course aims and objectives, and believe they have identified a course that is beneficial to themselves and meet the needs of the school and the learners they teach. The participants have already been preparing themselves for the course by attending Modern Languages in the Primary School courses, outside their teaching hours. The course will allow the teachers to support the school to embed the 1+2 Modern Languages policy fully, with confidence and competence. This will also allow the development of the school's expertise in modern languages, developing our ability to excel in this area of the national curriculum (Curriculum for Excellence). During the course, participants plan to network with other teachers and French speakers to provide relationships that will benefit the school and learners, which will add a European dimension to our school, and a greater cultural awareness and understanding. The participants plan to gain contact details of other schools in UK and Abroad, to allow the use of ICT in our learning, and promote communication skills. The implementation of the 1+2 policy has brought to our attention the importance to develop our own Modern Languages skills, confidence and competence. The opportunity to train in an immersion environment will accelerate our learning, and motivate and enthuse our passion to teach modern languages to a wide range of stages in the primary curriculum, through innovative and exciting experiences, for ourselves and learners. The participants plan to share their experiences, resources and skills with all teachers in the school on return. They will have regular meetings with the Head Teacher to discuss the progress and will support other teachers. In summary: We wish to carry out this project for a number of reasons. We want - To be in line with the national policy on languages, - To develop a European dimension in our school, - To improve the learning and teaching of languages in our school, and - To gain new resources, teaching methods, and enhance our use of ICT.
