Start date: Jul 1, 2014,
End date: Jun 30, 2015
PROJECT
FINISHED
In response to the added obligation to deliver MFL throughout the school as a result of the Scottish Government's implementation of the the One plus Two initiative, the need for an increase in skills is evident.
Through attending the proposed immersion course in Salignac, skills will be improved and new methodologies implemented.
The attendance of one member of staff who currently delivers French in the school will not only benefit her but has the potential to have wide ranging benefits to other staff and many children within our school. It will also impact on the cluster schools within thw area and increase the skills base across our authority.
The participant is Principal Teacher and has been trained in the delivery of French within the Primary setting for 10 years. She is keen to participate in the immersion course to enable the delivery of French to all children in the school and skills to this would be developed through attendance at the course in Salignac.
The project in essence has already begun in that needs of the school have been specified in consultation with management and a place has been reserved at Salignac provisionally as the course matches the needs of our establishment.
All arrangements will be supported by the provider, Le Francais en Ecosse and details will be given should this application be successful but all objectives are covered by the course outline.
The impact of such training would be far reaching. The improved teaching methodologies and resources would be assessed to ensure they have an impact on the children's learning including the awareness of French culture. Skills and methodologies could be transferred when a second MFL is introduced shortly.
The improvements to our delivery of learning with a European perspective would be impacted on for many years to come should the finance to attend be forthcoming. It is not about financing a week's , rather financing the means by which to improve Global education for the children and helping them to become effective contributors to a European society.
