Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Two volunteers come from Romania to Hungary, Kiskunhalas to participate in a long-term volunteer project. The host organization is Civilek a Jovoert Alapitvany (Foundation), which organizes community development projects, programs for young people, events, clubs, advisories, camps and other family activities for inhabitants in Kiskunhalas and in its surroundings. In collaboration with other NGOs, institutions, schools, kindergartens, governments and businesses, the Foundation delivers information to citizens, and creates synergies by dialogue between the various sectors. Community and youth information advisory services are offered at the office operated at Kuruc vitézek square, Kiskunhalas. The aim of the project is to develop the skills and key competences of volunteers, to promote their participation in democratic life in Europe and at the labor market, to encourage social responsibility, to help to generate high-quality international cooperation between the partners and thus help in their internationalization processes. Volunteers join the host organization's activities, such as dissemination youth and public information, clubs, advice, camps, forums, preparation, accomplishment and after-work of events and programs. In addition, they are encouraged to implement other activities which fit in the profile of the host organization. The volunteers visit several times the local high schools, and local businesses to promote EVS with presenting their own experiences. The project shows young people in Kiskunhalas the essence of volunteering, and later they may become our local volunteers which is good for our organization and good for them as well, as 50 hours of public volunteer work has become a condition of graduation. This will result in increased participation of local volunteering, and if young people get to know volunteer work, then hopefully they would like to take part in it, thus sending capacity of the host organization could increase. As the volunteers engage in the activities of the host organization, the short-term impact of the project is the positive effect on the life of the two cooperating organizations, the volunteers, and the community as well. The internationalization strategy of the two organizations will increase, and the participants will be able to carry out high-quality volunteer projects. The key competencies of volunteers will develop during the various non-formal learning processes. By the contact with the local community members, organizations, institutions and businesses the intercultural awareness of volunteers and local citizens will develop.
