BACKGROUND “Tommaso Stigliani” High School is located in an urban background rich of cultural anthropological and naturalistic stimulus. It includes more addresses of studies: - High School Human Sciences - High School Human Sciences with Economic and Social option - High School Language - High School Musical The school population includes about 800 students coming from different realities. Most of the students come from Matera and its neighbourhood, but there are also a lot of foreign students thanks to some decennial international projects like Comenius, Intercultura, exchanges and twinnings. The main sphere for such activities is the High School Language, but they involve the other addresses of studies, too. The training needs of the school staff arise in this background: 1. CLIL LANGUAGE AND METHODOLOGICAL TRAINING. 2. METHODOLOGICAL TRAINING FOR THE LANGUAGE TEACHERS IN USING THE ICT RELATED TO SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITIES AND TO SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS. 3. LANGUAGE TRAINING FOR THE NON-TEACHING ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF. The project is made up of more stages: PREPARATORY AND ORGANIZATION STAGE 1. constitution of a group of work formed by Headmaster, Director of EMS 3 teachers and 1 administrative officer; 2. preparation of planning, selection, evaluation and monitoring tools; 3. organization and achievement of the planned preparatory activities, before and after each flux. ACTION 1 – CLIL OBJECTIVES: - applying the CLIL method and acquiring new experiences and new ideas in order to teach the different subjects in L2. - acquiring already set materials, assessing and adapting them, creating new materials for the different subjects in L2. - increasing the different language skills, with particular reference to the different microlanguages - knowledge of the different school systems of the different Countries. NUMBER AND PROFILE OF THE PARTICIPANTS 14 teachers take part to the action and in particular 2 History teachers, 3 of Philosophy and Human Sciences, 2 of Art and Design, 4 of Maths, 1 of Science, 1 of Law and Economics, 1 support teacher. Five of these teachers have already passed the selection for training, organized by the region, at the University of Basilicata. The others will face it in the short. METHODS: - introduction to the CLIL method; - analysis of bilingual texts; - practical application of the method; - language course at multiple levels. EXPECTED OUTCOMES FOR THE PARTICIPANTS: Increased level of comprehension, reading, listening and production in English; ability in applying the method CLIL in the classes. POTENTIAL LONG- TERM BENEFITS: to expand the provision of training; implement an open and dynamic culture; to promote the creation of an European identity; to get the best results at the students. ACTION 2 – METHODOLOGICAL TRAINING FOR THE ICT USE OBJECTIVES - to increase the language and methodological skills; - to acquire new skills in the ICT use; - to improve the teaching skills with more attractive methods for the students. NUMBER AND PROFILE OF THE PARTICIPANTS: 3 teachers take part to the action and in particular 2 English teachers, 1 of French. EXPECTED OUTCOMES FOR THE PARTICIPANTS: Increased language and communication skills; introduction to the new methodologies thanks to the use of the new informatics technologies; increased skills in promoting an European consciousness. POTENTIAL LONG- TERM BENEFITS: optimal use of the school IT; creation of a laboratory for specific learning disabilities and special educational needs, improvement of the students cognitive levels. ACTION 3 - LANGUAGE TRAINING FOR THE NON-TEACHING ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF AND ACQUSITION OF NEW MANAGEMENT METHODS OBJECTIVES - to increase the language and the communicative skills; - to acquire new skills in the ICT use; - to compare the organization and management systems; - to improve and to optimize the working activities; - to administrate the students and the school staff mobility. NUMBER AND PROFILE OF THE PARTICIPANTS: The following non- teaching administrative staff takes part to the action: Headmaster, Director of EMS, 1 computer lab technician, 1 secretarial staff, 3 non teaching school staff officers. EXPECTED OUTCOMES FOR THE PARTICIPANTS: Increased language and communication skills; introduction to the new methodologies thanks to the use of the new informatics technologies; increased skills in interacting and in group working. POTENTIAL LONG- TERM BENEFITS: optimal use of the school informatics tools; creation of a “ Door Europe”, for counseling and support to mobility. FINAL STAGE. This stage consists in the general reporting of the project, in the realization of the dissemination actions, in the monitoring of the relapses of the students' benefit, in terms of an increase of the school success and of the dropping out of school.
