La politique culturelle e la diplomatie culturelle de l’Union Européenne
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

It is obvious that the EU is unthinkable without the common cultural policy both domestic and external. The goal of this project is to analyze and understand the complexity of new challenges of European cultural policy: the crisis of multiculturalism; dialogue between cultures at national level and at international level (e. g. migration issues, cultural assimilation of the new EU members); creation of common European values that would be clear to all, especially to the youth; formation of European identity. All these fundamental issues of EU are not studied by our students. But the international situation shows us the necessity to learn mechanisms of establishment of common values, of identity, of the union of diverse cultures. This is why we need a new course on these issues. It is important that the part of the course can be integrated into the course devoted to contemporary diplomacy theory and to the ethnopsychology. It is anticipated following teaching activities: "traditional" (lectures, tutorials and seminars), role playing, simulation. The course "Cultural policy and EU cultural diplomacy" will be offered for the first time to students of our chair. This is why the introduction of this course may fill this gap in European Studies in our university. This course helps to develop the following skills: ability to work in teams, tolerant perception of social, ethnic, religious and cultural issues; the ability to understand the logic of global processes and the development of the world political system of international relations in their historical, economic and legal contexts. After completion of this course students are expected to understand the characteristics of the formation and implementation of the EU's cultural policy. They will study the elements, structure, and concept of internal common cultural policy as well as the objects and instruments of the EU's cultural diplomacy.
