PROJECT
FINISHED
By choosing « Food » as the theme of the school project, the pupils of the school of St Pierre Colamine are expected to be involved and motivated . As a matter of fact, Europe is a very abstract entity to many of the pupils. On the other hand, « Food » is a concrete subject, which is part of their lives, as many have their parents work as farmers.
The project will allow pupils to learn about the living habits of other European children, through the study of traditionnal events and their way of living. By exchanging recipes and points of view with « e-twinning », they will have a taste of others’ cultures, and a curiosity to look for further information. Along with exchanging recipes, they can read children’s books to one another and create artistic productions about food.
The aim for the 22 pupils, in a rural and remote school, is for them to get a positive image of Europe, and to improve their English skills.
English will be indeed the language for communication, allowing them to correspond with other European pupils.
That's why it is important for the teacher who will teach them English to improve her English skills by attending a training session in English, taking place in London in Spring 2015. This would make the communication easier with the three European colleagues she intends to work with. It will also bring her new pedagogical tools and methods, so that her English lessons will make the project even more intriguing.
