La formación en el lugar de trabajo: oportunidades europeas para alumnos de Madrid
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

As it was stated in the initial proposal, this project led by the Directorate General for Secondary Education and VET was created within the frame of a consortium and responds to an initiative of commitment with European mobility in our region. In this Consortium, there were 22 participating VET schools from the five different areas in which the region of Madrid is divided. They all offer initial Vocational Education and Training in practically all different VET sectors in the Madrid Region. The initial 50 participants in the mobility activities were students of upper secondary vocational education and training from the different VET schools part of the consortium. The initial prediction has been passed and finally we have been able to make 52 mobilities of 16 different specialties specified below: Olive oils and wines Bodywork Cookery and gastronomy Dressmaking and fashion Auxiliary nursery care Motor vehicles electro mechanics Consumer electronics equipment Pharmacy and parapharmacy Administrative management Heat generation installations, refrigeration and air conditioning installations Telecommunications installations Electrical and automatic installations Gardening and floristry Hairdressing and hair cosmetics Digital prepress Microcomputer systems and networks The aim of the mobility activities were that the students could carry our their traineeship, a mandatory 370 hour part of their training, and this has been implemented, they have remained at their destinations, in a European Company, for a period of 10 weeks, 70 days, from April 12th to June 20th and two days of travel, thereby adding an international dimension to the work placement. Work based learning is increasingly understood as a fundamental piece to increase the labour market relevance of education and training and help reduce skills mismatches and shortages. Regarding the methodology and management, we have chosen our partners according to the participant´s profile. Communication with partners has been intense in order to get suitable sites for the students, and have covered insurance requirements and appropriate supervision. Students participants were requested reports assessing the activity, in addition to the EU Survey provided in the Mobility Tool; in general the results have been very satisfactory about the whole experience, both personal and professionally , the beneficiaries have increased their skills and foresight employability, some students have been hired by the company and have returned to work , a person in Portugal, another in France and other one in Italy. They have strengthened their autonomy and personal responsibility, tolerance in coexistence with others, international vision at work and European values and improved their language skills considerably valuing the importance of language learning for their work and personal future. For the schools part of this Consortium, the results have been very positive too, related to the project objectives, they have increased the European inclination and raise awareness of the benefits of participation in Erasmus + in the VET institutions of the Autonomous region of Madrid. This way the percentage of VET schools and students that will participate in Erasmus+ projects in VET will increase as well. Through the participation in the Consortium we have opened the way for the inexperienced schools, as they have shared the experience and good practices with the other members of the Consortium. This has been a motivating factor for them to apply individually in the future. Therefore this institutional participation and guidance of the DG with the 22 schools part of the Consortium has reached beyond the time scope of the project and thanks to the dissemination of the activities planned and the good practices carried out, this has been a motivation for other schools in the region of Madrid, to the extent that for next approved proposal in 2016-2017 there will be 40 schools involved Last but not least, the impact of this project in our region has a reflection at national level and beyond; we have participated in national meetings and, with our contribution, we have done our bit to make a big pile of mobility projects in education and training that, eventually, will have an impact on the educational systems of all the countries participating in Erasmus + and at an international level too.
