La circolazione dei lavoratori nell'Unione europea e nella regio insubrica
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project proposes teaching activities (courses and a series of seminars) and research activities on the free movement of workers in the EU and in the Insubrica Region. The course titled “Free movement of workers in the EU” expand the educational offer of the Economics Department approaching students to certain specific aspects and essential part of EU law, particularly relevant for their professional future. This objective is strengthened by a series of seminars which will then propose to integrate the knowledge acquired in the course with the study of the regulatory framework that governs the mobility of workers in the Insubrica Region, namely in the territory of the Italian provinces of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Varese, Como, Novara, Lecco and the Canton Ticino (Switzerland). The movement of workers in the Insubrica Region is also the subject of a parallel research activity, conducted by young researchers from Italian and Switzerland University. The topic is currently of particular interest due to the local growing number of natural and legal persons that from the Italian provinces located in the border are moving to work in the near Ticino, placing themselves in the phenomenon of bilateral relations between Switzerland and the EU ( Bilateral and 1999 bilateral II of 2004) as well as between Switzerland and Italy (in particular, the agreement on the taxation of cross-border workers and the financial compensation to the Italian border municipalities dated October 3, 1974). The study conducted by young Italian and Swiss researchers will have a multidisciplinary approach (EU law, international law, fiscal law and tax law) and aimed at establishing networks of contacts between academics, professionals, labour consultants and within the civil society. The research results will be presented and discussed during a conference and the paper presented will be published in book, also accessible as on-line publications edited by the Insubria University.
