L'électronique, tremplin pour l'Europe de demain
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Parentis-En-Born vocational high school (in the north of the department of Landes) is a rural establishment serving approximately 300 hundred students and composed of roughly 40 teachers. Students that live in the region have the opportunity to pursue 5 training programs: 1 service sector program (Bac Pro ASSP) and four industrial programs (Bac Pro SEN, MEI, ELEEC, and CAP métalwork). During the last four years the establishment has engaged in several professional placements and school trips throughout Europe. The vocational high school is part of an academic campus including a middle school and a general high school. Over the course of two years, the current project proposes a practical placement for six SEN students in their final year of study (ou terminale Bac Pro – language specified). This placement will be part of their curricular training and will be separated into two parts: one part working in a German partner company and one part studying in an academic establishment. This project has the following objectives: Develop professional competences and meet the demands of trade companies for an internationalized workforce, Provide an opportunity to discover different countries, cultures and perspectives to students otherwise geographically isolated, Promote the spirit of openness, initiative and autonomy in youth from difficult socio-economic environments, The main corresponding partner of this project is the Theodor-Litt-Schule de Giessen (Hesse) vocational school with which we have regularly been working with during the last three years. The school is our essential link to the companies our students work with. Likewise, the Saint Exupery vocational school is the main partner with TLS for their LEONARDO and ERASMUS+ projects. This is therefore a truly bilateral partnership. The participants will be supervised throughout their project by a piloting committee composed of five people (teachers and administrative personnel) supported by the school principal. Before their departure, the students will benefit from language preparation with the teacher of the Langue Vivante Européenne section, as well as with the English language assistant and the German language assistant from the general high school. While on placement, each student will receive initial support from the accompanying teacher during the first few days and afterwards from a teacher with the partner establishment. This project will profoundly impact students. It will enhance their studies and offer greater academic possibilities. It will also help them create a more attractive CV and find their place in society. Moreover, it will reinforce the importance of becoming a contributing European citizen. For the establishment, it will promote the SEN section and make it more appealing to future students. The teachers will be enriched pedagogically and culturally and sharing their experience with their colleagues can promote the development of new European partnerships. Local companies will become increasingly interested in hiring students who graduate from our program. Looking forward, we hope that this project will enhance the reputation of our establishment and it’s profound anchorage in the economic and regional fabric.
