Kuterevo Spirit

Eleven volunteers from very different European countries (Spain, Serbia, Turkey, Slovenia, Macedonia) and diverse backgrounds (ethnic, religious, occupations and opportunities) will spend one months as a team of EVS volunteers in Kuterevo Refuge exploring, learning, documenting Kuterevo Spirit. Kuterevo Spirit is a challenge offered to those who dare to volunteer for the bears and people of Kuterevo. The challenge consists of 4 aspects: exploring, learning, sharing and contributing. During this month, the volunteers will be working on several project activities related to Kuterevo Bear Refuge, traditional heritage and supporting coordination of voluntary groups (scouts and international workcamps). They will have plenty of opportunity for informal learning, but also organized non-formal learning activities.During their time, EVS team will be helping Velebit Association in running the Bear Refuge and the Volunteers' Station. They will be learning about bears and people, from biology to mythology. They will act as messengers to visitors and other volunteers, and as such spread the idea of volunteering for nature, people and future. The volunteers will also mark 20 years of European Voluntary Service and inspire youngsters from the district to take part in EVS projects abroad.Moreover, the EVS volunteers will be an example of multicultural community which live and learn together, break down barriers and build new relations for sustainable, nature- and people-friendly future of Europe and the World.
