Emma Hjorth Primary School needs to increase it's competency in the eduation of multi-lingual students, teaching in a technology-rich environment, and mathematics. We want to learn how to meet challenges connected to a multicultural society and at the same time reach all our students learningpotential. There aren't many schools in the county of Bærum that are similar to the studentmass of Emma Hjorth, therefore we need to gather knowledge and competency abroad.The schools's teaching staff faces several demanding challenges in the coming years. It is important that a common outlook, common practice and a common pedagogic platform, to ensure that the school is ready to meet an increase in our numbers of students and staff.The courses we have selected are meant to strengthen our teachers' competency in the fields of digital didactics, mathematic tutoring and basic skills.The schools we wish to visit, are schools with a large number of multi-lingual, multi-ethnic students, a large turnover rate of students, and students whose families lack higher education. The schools work systematically with teachingmethods, and set demands on their students in a way we don't traditionally do. We think the teachers at ours school could learn alot by shadowing them for a few days. One of the schools, Sheringham Primary School, has a special focus on mathematics, and is strongly influenced by the Singapore-method of teaching. Is this something we could use and be inspired by?30 teachers and 3 from schoolmanangement want to participate in this compenency-increasing project. We wish to use these changes in our competency to help our students meet the challenges of life and further education. Vi know that the years ahead will see continued and rapid changes to the digital world, and our students have the be able to use and master their new digital world. We want our teaching staff to be competent and proactice in our teachingpractices to ensure that this is accomplished.
