The project concerns students of the Vocational School of Gdańsk which offers specialization in chef.The students will achieve their two month placement in various regions of Greece. The organization of internships abroad for students of this vocational school gives an appropriated answer to the needs of the local labor market in the Tri-City area in gastronomy and hospitality services. The local labor market is indeed always looking for qualified personnel with good command of foreign languages because a lot of foreign tourists visit this region. Restaurants and hotels make their best to recruit the best qualified cooks and waiters who speak well foreign languages. In fact, there is a lot of well qualified personnel but the main problem remains their lack of knowledge of foreign languages and without this key competency the possibility to work in large and international hotels and restaurants is restricted. The main objectives of this project is the acquisition and consolidation of practical knowledge in the cradle of culinary culture, the improvement of foreign language skills in general with an emphasis on professional vocabulary, the motivation to keep on learning especially new techniques and methods of work, the ability to work in an international environment, learning a new culture, learning about food and eating habits in Greece, openness to another labor market, the ability to use accurately this experience abroad after returning to Poland, the increase of self-confidence, autonomy, maturity, openness and ability to cope with stress, problem solving, attitude of tolerance and acceptance of cultural and social diversities and building positive intercultural relationships.Activities related to the implementation of the project include, among others, promotion of the project among students, training in Greek, organization of information meetings with students, recruitment, confirmation from partners that they accept to take students for internships, preparation of the placement agreement and signing with the host institutions, preparation of the internships plan adapted to the profile of the candidates, assistance in purchasing travel tickets to Greece, setting the terms of accommodation, preparation of evaluation questionnaires, purchasing insurance for students, confirmation of the date of arrival and the reception of the students by the host institutions, supervision of placements, contact by phone, email, skype, completion of practices, preparation of reports summarizing practice.The means used for the evaluation in this project are following evaluation surveys, training book, interviews, discussions, observations, documents´ analysis, test checking the acquired knowledge of Greek language, multimedia presentation summarizing internships.
