Kulinarinio paveldo įvairovė
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Varėna Technology and Business, Veisiejai Technology and Business and Raseiniai Technology and Business Schools preparing cook speciality students seek to make these vocational training students to become great experts in their field, to acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills and to become equivalent members of European labour market. Schools seek the participants to gain new experiences, new skills and improve existing ones. It is very useful for students to work in other companies, learn about other traditions, customs and national cuisine. Students will look at their profession from another point view, will grow as personalities and will be able to apply their experience competing in the Lithuanian and European labour market. Vast majority of students to Varėna, Veisiejai and Raseiniai Technology and Business Schools come from the villages and small settlements, so why it is difficult for these young people to accommodate to the larger communities in the larger cities and to compete in the labour market, they lack confidence in their personal and professional skills as well. Implementing this project, Schools expect young people to gain international communication and collaboration experience, professional knowledge, improve skills and have access to the other European countries. It is expected the students to be acquainted with the diversity of the heritage of cuisine. In this way, the students will acquire professional skills and will increase self-confidence essential for successful integration into the labour market. The expected participants of the project are of the second or third form students of cook speciality. The students of this form have enough knowledge, but often lack practical skills in the diverse food preparation and presentation area. Third form students have to fulfil their apprenticeship, but often it is difficult to find companies that would like to engage in this activity and often these young people stay for their apprenticeship at the same school. Although the school is equipped with a good base material to prepare students for these professions, but the experience gained through apprenticeship is a totally different thing. Education, professional skills and experience are the key factors in increasing employment opportunities. In addition, these visits are completely different working and cultural experiences for students from Lithuania. They would have excellent access to the cuisines of different cultures and traditions. In addition, the change in the form of apprenticeship motivate students to continue their studies, go deep into subtleties of their speciality, gain new experiences and knowledge in order to realize their potential while working as a cook. The schools will organize contest in which participants will be selected for placements. Information about conditions and competition in the Erasmus+ program will be published on schools’ notice boards of the classrooms and on the schools’ web sites. There are three visits: 1. In October ( 9 students, 3 from each school ) in Germany, 4 weeks. 2. In December ( 9 students, 3 from each school ) in Turkey, 4 weeks. 3. In March ( 9 students, 3 from each school ) in Hungary, 4 weeks. Also, every visit will be leaded by an accompanying person, who will help young people to adapt and to integrate into a new environment. This person will help the students to overcome difficulties, to establish closer relationships with the partners. Project duration - one year ( from 2014 1th of September till 2015 31th August). Varena Technology and Business School is constantly communicating and cooperating for several years with these partners from Germany, Turkey and Hungary and we are confident of their professionalism, competency, honesty and responsibility of their staff. The organizations from Germany, Turkey and Hungary will help to implement the cultural preparation of the students, provide the programs of the visits, find companies for students apprenticeship. They also will help to solve problems and we will constantly communicate with them by e- mail and telephone. During the apprenticeship, the students will gain new skills and get acquainted with other customs, traditions, cultural life and the diversity of the heritage of culinary. During these visits, students will improve their professional knowledge of foreign language and deepen their practical skills. The students will be provided with the Europass Mobility documents, certificates of participation in the Erasmus+ mobility program from host organizations and sending shools and will become more competitive in the Lithuania and Europe labour market.
