Kuchnie narodów Europy- Portugalia
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Nov 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

There will be 12 participants of the vocational training in Portugal from Technical College of Nutrition and Culinary Services. Our students live mainly in rural areas and provincial towns. In their homes, they usually prepare traditional dishes, characteristic of central Poland. Unfortunately, they are familiar with other international cuisines only in theory. Teachers, along with students prepare elaborate dishes employing various methods and combining all sorts of ingredients. However, those culinary classes take place rarely, mostly when holding events.Ingredients characteristic of various cuisines are expensive and often they are unavailable in rural areas. As a result, it is impossible to prepare such dishes. Our students express a keen interest in international cuisines and that is the primary reason why a vocational training in fine restaurants would provide unparalleled professional opportunities for our students in international cooking. The vocational training provides the chance to learn:- traditional Portugal cuisine, based on its characteristic ingredients- innovative cooking methods- Iberian cuisine : its ingredients and cooking styles- culinary arts- preparing meals skillfully, in a manner pleasing to the plate as to the eye- food safety- healthy cooking abundant in fruit, vegetables, seafood, vegetable oils- Etiquette at the table (table manners, rules for serving dishes, table decoration principles)- the rudiments of Italian and its national customsThe principal objectives of the vocational training:- acquiring professional experience in Portugal cuisine- various culinary services- allowing the students to broaden international horizons and establish new friendships that the students could benefit from in their future careers- gaining the awareness of healthy eating - developing the practical language in the field of gastronomy and culinary servicesThe approximate dates for the training to begin for the group is from July 2nd to July 29th 2017. The vocational training will take place in a kitchen's restaurant of our partner Mobility Friends, but also our partner has prepared placements in local restaurants. Each of those restaurants have taken part in Leonardo da Vinci Project before. Our students will not only obtain a unique professional training and practical culinary skills, but also essential communicative language skills. The Certificates of training completion will definitely help our students to compete with other qualified professionals at Polish and European job market. What is more, after returning to Poland the students will share unforgettable experiences which may affect their approach to European economy, and Polish economy itself from the perspective of EU member. This vocational training might be also a key factor to increasing the level of motivation for those students who will not participate in the project, proving that enhancing one’s qualifications is worthwhile. After successfully completing the training, the group would be a shining example of efforts that will bring benefits in the future.
