Kowala w Europie
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Social Welfare Centre (GOPS) in Kowala would like to participate in European voluntary. It is a great opportunity for our institution which is still seeking for new challenges, tasks and solutions for local community. The staff of the Centre is distinguished by bravery and determination in taking up new actions. For more than two years GOPS in Kowala is involved in the group of certified institution of the Local Activity Center as because of taking up uncommon activities to local community and was included into the group of institutions working with and for the community . We have been promoting voluntary idea for more than 4 years as a very effective method of education in group of people in every age. Our current experiences show that it is worth to doing it because of the results. We can see, as well, that voluntary needs to be more effective and more interesting for local community. We can see that participation in European voluntary is a way to increase the role of voluntary, developing our institution, personal competences and skills. We would like to inspire local community to engage in social problems especially that situation of our region is quite difficult. We are a rural commune with high unemployment rate especially among young people. We believe that European voluntary is a form of supporting people. It gives young people the opportunity to develop skills, get to know different cultures, enrich life experience and increase possibilities to find the job. By implementing European voluntary we would like to involve young people in social issues to build global open-minded community . There is no doubt that international contacts give comprehensive development, new contacts, friendship, education and experiences. It is aimed to support young people, to enable them to get experience and to support local society, thanks to volunteers` work, and to change people`s awareness, to accept varieties and gain multicultural experiences. We are expecting two volunteers, who are sociable, can work with children, teenagers, adults, elderly people and disabled people. They like learning and knowledge sharing, moreover are open for diversity in activities. Musically gifted volunteers, i.e. who can play a musical instrument, are welcomed. However, even if they have nothing more but a big smile they will be acclaimed. Such activities are carried out by the Volunteers` Center which operates by the Local Social Welfare Centre in Kowala: - regular integration and working meetings of members of the Volunteers` Centre, promotion of voluntary actions, updating the notice board, improving the web page, creating and distributing leaflets in the community, -being on duty with the coordinator of the Centre for schools where voluntary circle operates. General educational classes for students can be co-created by the European Volunteers. It will be a good chance to present the country which they come from, their voluntary experience, -educational trips for volunteers, -gathering groceries in local shops to give them to the poor living in the community, -co-conducting workshops about voluntary for clients of the Local Social Welfare Centre in Kowala, - help in teaching children at the age of 7-13 who take part in classes in the community centre (own ideas will be acclaimed) by organising games, like a series of mini-projects, teaching elements of the volunteer`s mother tongue, suggestions about decorating the community room,- individual voluntary for children, disabled adults and elderly people - support, conversation and a family assistant`s support by organising children`s free time, - taking part in action activities like The Cleaner`s Day (cleaning a town), action “And you can be a Saint Nicholas, Noble Box,- supporting libraries thanks to cooperation of the Local Social Welfare Centre in Kowala and the library,- organising sport activities for children and teenagers, - co-creating The Volunteer`s Day, the Voluntary Centre, - giving out food from and clothes the store.
