Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Czech Academy of Horticulture Mělník approaches the educational process in all its complexity. The school not only trains specialists, it also intends to enable school graduates wider professional, civic and personal fulfilment. Therefore, the emphasis is on education, awareness of national and European citizenship, on motivation of students for relationship with their study field and work. Students are involved in the school life. The cross-cutting issue of the project called "Let’s communicate" is to improve communication as a means of talking and mutual information exchange. The project meets the needs of better training, of the necessity of the teaching process modernization and improving teachers and pupils knowledge and skills, as well as European dimension of education. The project involves activities and placements which deal with various forms of communication which will contribute to the quality of tuition and education. The project key objectives are to improve educational process, mainly in language training, ICT and educational approach and to strengthen European dimension of education via international mobility in host institutions. The project will allow the mobility participants and their colleagues to access the methods and techniques, to exchange experience of youth education and to ensure the quality and transparency in qualifications using national and European instruments, e.g. the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment and Europass Language Passport and Europass Mobility. These, as an evidence of the placement completion and learnt knowledge and skills, will become part of participant’s qualification development. The mobilities will be realised in the form of two-week methodology language courses and in five-day placements in job-shadowing in our partner school in Austria. The language courses target group is represented by qualified teachers of foreign languages at secondary school. There will be five courses attended, three of them are for English teachers, one for a German and one for a French teacher. The courses will take place in Malta, the United Kingdom, Germany and France in July and August 2016. Placements in job-shadowing will be arranged by the outstanding Austrian school of horticulture - Bildungszentrum Gartenbau Langenlois. The placements will be held in two runs in June and October 2016. We have been cooperating with the partner school for a number of years, particularly in the field of students’ practical training. The intended job-shadowing will become a new feature of our cooperation. Within the job-shadowing, four educational and one non-teaching members of staff will study educational methods and approaches and will exchange experience with Austrian colleagues who are responsible for teaching English, counselling, class teacher’s responsibilities, running the boarding house and ICT management. The placements are of individual character, which demands a great deal of preparation of participants, however, it increases efficiency and positive outcome. The project team will carry out the project following the activity schedule which encompasses selection procedure, preparing agreements, task-related, linguistic, intercultural and pedagogical preparation, practical arrangements, preparing placements themselves, their realizations, the assessment and recognition, use of European instruments, communication with partner institutions, dissemination of results and forms of monitoring. The information on the project as a whole, the outcomes of particular placements and products made by participants - presentations , photographs, articles, mini-dictionaries and glossaries, summaries, boards and reports - will be used to share the results. During and after the end of the project, the sending and receiving organizations will use evaluating reports and project products to make other projects of cooperation better, to plan suitable follow-up activities, for example the reciprocal placements for students and teachers. Improving various forms of communication, enhancing professional and language competencies, pedagogical and digital skills and share of experience with other colleagues will contribute to the quality of education, will increase motivation for lifelong learning and will allow all parties involved to participate in other forms of international cooperation.
