Kompetenzerweiternde Auslandspraktika
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Background and aims of project: The Würzburger Dolmetscherschule is a member of the Euro Schools Organisation and the Leonardo project is part of this organisation’s internationalisation strategy. The courses offered at our vocational college are geared towards the future professional practice of companies both in Germany and abroad and give students with a secondary school leaving certificate the chance to get a Bachelors or a Masters qualification once they have completed further programmes of study. To this end, several years ago contact was established with universities abroad that recognise and accept our qualifications. Number and profile of participants and time frame of mobility: • Number of participants: 38 • Students have the option to take part in the programme at various stages of their course, although always at the end of the respective academic year • Depending on their year of study, students may spend between 4 and 10 weeks in either England, Ireland, France or Spain during the months of July, August and September The outcome of the placement is documented, along with partner and mentor evaluations, in the participant’s Europass. Description of activities/realisation of project: • Presentations providing basic information about the programme • Programme enrolment • Establishing contact with partners • Linguistic and intercultural preparation • Support with writing CVs • Evaluations • Final reports • Accounting and financial statements • Information session to provide participants with their Europass • Presentations to successive cohort given by previous participants • Promotional measures (publication of reports in the local media, on the college website etc.) Intended outcomes and effects, as well as the expected long-term benefits of the programme: The college’s mobility project should allow its students to deepen their linguistic skills through integrated, experience-oriented learning. It also aims to give participants the chance to gain additional specialised linguistic knowledge depending on their placement company’s field of expertise, as well as the opportunity to get to know how businesses operate abroad. Lastly, the project aims to allow students to develop international competence and strengthen other key transferable skills such as the ability to work in a team, conflict management, time management etc. The project is carried out together with different European partners who, as a result of long-standing cooperation, are suitably experienced.
